Published in 1977, this vibrant lithograph forms part of the deluxe edition of Joan Miró Lithographs III, the third volume of the celebrated catalogue raisonné of Miró's graphic work issued by Maeght Éditeur. While the standard publication included unsigned lithographs bound within the book, the present impression belongs to the rare deluxe portfolio edition of only eighty signed and numbered suites printed on Arches paper with generous margins.

The composition exemplifies Miró's mature visual language, in which lyrical black calligraphic forms dance across fields of brilliant colour. Bold primary hues, floating biomorphic elements and seemingly spontaneous gestures combine to create a composition that is at once playful, poetic and meticulously balanced. Beneath its apparent simplicity lies an extraordinary command of rhythm, colour and spatial harmony that defines Miró's late graphic work.

Miró regarded printmaking as an independent artistic discipline rather than merely a reproductive process. His long-standing collaboration with the master printers Mourlot Frères and publisher Maeght Éditeur resulted in some of the twentieth century's most celebrated original prints, combining technical innovation with exceptional artistic freedom.

The present impression is distinguished by its provenance within the deluxe portfolio edition. Printed on superior Arches paper, signed in pencil and issued in an edition of only eighty suites, it is considerably scarcer than the unsigned impressions contained within the standard publication. As such, it represents one of the most desirable forms in which this composition was made available and stands as an outstanding example of Miró's late lithographic achievement.
