Dismaland was a temporary art exhibition and dystopian theme park created by the street artist Banksy. It was open for just over five weeks, from August 21 to September 27, 2015, in Weston-super-Mare, England.
The park was a dark, satirical take on traditional theme parks like Disneyland, featuring subversive and politically charged artwork.
The park was filled with bleak, unsettling attractions mocking consumerism, capitalism, and mass media. Over 50 Artists: Included works from Banksy as well as artists like Jeff Gilette, Damien Hirst, and David Shrigley. The Park Featured crumbling castles, miserable employees, and depressing rides. Dismaland attracted massive crowds and sold out daily. After closing, the materials were repurposed to build shelters for refugees in Calais, France. It remains one of Banksy’s most famous large-scale projects, blending art with activism. The present work was selected by Banksy as the official poster for his 2015 "Dismaland" exhibition, a satirical take on theme parks. Jeff Gillette is an American contemporary artist renowned for his provocative "slumscape" paintings that juxtapose iconic Disney characters with dystopian landscapes. His work critically examines global economic disparities and the artificiality of popular culture.
Gillette created "Minnie Hiroshima," depicting Minnie Mouse amidst a devastated urban environment, symbolizing the collision of innocence with catastrophic destruction.
In excellent condition, this official poster from Dismaland has become an iconic symbol of Banky's dark theme park, highly collectable and rare to attain.
