Biography
‘I have been producing my recent work on genuine disused signs, giving something rusty, aged and even bullet ridden a new life. A used sign to me is a unique canvas, sometimes with 20 years of wear, tear and imperfections, each one telling a story of its own...I love how no two can ever be the same.’

Tommy Gurr is a Visual Artist from Whitstable, Kent. After attending Kent Institute of Art and Design (KIAD) and The University for Creative Arts (UCA), Tommy combined his passion for art with his second great love, travelling, which has taken him across the globe. His stencil murals can be found from Camden to Cambodia, where he featured as an Artist in Residence for much of 2015 and 2016, producing over 60 murals.

Tommy has previously worked in collaboration with Henley Festival, producing several large-scale artworks and performing ‘live paint’ exhibitions for festival goers both during the festival itself and at Paddington Station, London.

Influenced by Contemporary and Urban Art, by utilising contrast and imagination Tommy continues to surprise, combining his influences and media to create striking new original pieces and bringing his love of unusual canvas to the gallery environment.
