“My Work explores the relationship between light and dark, and how colour can manipulate structures. I like my work to give the viewer just enough information that they can understand the form whilst maintaining a contemporary abstract style” - Nick Quirke
Nick has exhibited his work in galleries across the UK, as well as internationally in New York and, more recently, Boston, USA. He has undertaken a number of bespoke commissions, including projects for Dishoom in Shoreditch, the Hilton Garden Inn in Abingdon, and the Winchester Royal Hotel on St. Catherine’s Hill.
A former Henley Royal Regatta winner, Nick has painted live within the Royal Stewards’ Enclosure, lending his work a distinctive authenticity and perspective, alongside a refined ability to capture the character of the regatta’s iconic landscape.
Nick has dedicated much of his life to studying Fine Art, beginning at Byam Shaw School of Art and Design, now part of Central St Martins in London. Following his time in London, he relocated to Bristol, where he pursued and completed a BTEC Diploma in Fine Art at the renowned Spike Island.
Nick's artistic journey has been deeply influenced by his fascination with light effects in the sky and reflections on water. This obsession has led him to develop a unique style characterised by vibrant, rich colours and bold impasto strokes that make the hues burst from the canvas. His most loved subject matters are the expressive skys over Temple Island in Henley, the rugged landscapes of Scotland and the energitic London city skyline.
