Biography

Lhouette (born Ciarán Robinson) is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading urban pop artists, known for his distinctive style of mixed media collage. Born in Luton in 1985, Lhouette began studying art and design at Central Bedfordshire College but made the unconventional decision to leave and join the Royal Navy. After four years of service, during which he travelled to 21 countries across the Caribbean, South America, and Europe, he returned home and established his first studio at the age of 21, adopting the name Lhouette for his artistic career.

Lhouette later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts Management at Birkbeck, University of London. His work draws significant inspiration from East London’s urban art scene and the rise of 'Pop Up / Pop Art' galleries during the mid-2000s. His experiences abroad also leave a strong mark on his art, blending influences from his travels with his urban pop sensibilities.

His highly detailed craftsmanship fuses both raw and refined materials, layered with his signature, dynamic painted collages. Lhouette has earned critical acclaim for his 'Post Urban Glamour' and 'Pop Maximalist' concepts, which push the boundaries of traditional pop art. His widely collected cast-off silhouetted figurative motifs have become iconic elements of his work, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary British art.
