Biography

Louis Sidoli is a contemporary British artist known for striking pop culture portraiture and a commanding use of neon and aluminium. His breakthrough came with the 2009 Most Wanted series, where police mugshots of cultural icons including David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Mick Jagger were transformed into refined, high impact works of art.

Raised in an Anglo Italian creative family, Sidoli showed early artistic instinct but chose a different path, building a career in automotive design with BMW, Mini, Land Rover and Aston Martin. That experience shaped his exacting approach to materials and finish. Precision, surface and light remain central to his practice. His Catholic upbringing also left a lasting imprint, from sacred iconography to the glow of stained glass, informing his use of reflective aluminium, glass and vivid neon.

Sidoli turns the overlooked into the exceptional. Public records, newspapers and police archives become powerful visual statements through glass, aluminium, resin and hand crafted neon. His work captures and refracts light, elevating raw source material into objects of desire.

In 2007 he left the corporate world to focus entirely on art. The response was immediate. Most Wanted became an international success, securing his position within the contemporary British art scene. His work has appeared in more than 200 galleries worldwide, including Harrods in London, and is held by collectors such as Liam Gallagher, Ozzy Osbourne and Steven Graham. A defining moment came in 2015 with a collaboration alongside Pelé at Halcyon Gallery in Bond Street, where his neon and resin portraits were shown with original Warhol works to major public and media attention.

He has since collaborated with brands including SEGA, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo, and worked with renowned photographers Brian Duffy and Terry O’Neill.
