The original artworks in this series were personally co-signed by Pelé and premiered at the landmark exhibition “Pelé: Art, Life, Football” in London 2015 to celebrate the football legend’s 75th birthday. The works were later exhibited at the National Football Museum in Manchester (2017–2018). Inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic 1978 Athletes series, Louis Sidoli reinterprets the Brazilian icon through a bold, contemporary lens. The imagery draws from a rare 1972 vintage Puma football boots advertisement and an original 1970s Pelé-endorsed Spalding “Handler” football, featuring his legendary No. 10 shirt. The title pays playful homage to Warhol’s famous “15 minutes of fame” quote. As Warhol once said of Pelé: instead of 15 minutes, he would be famous for 15 centuries — a prediction that perfectly captures the timeless greatness of the greatest player the game has ever known. Rendered in Sidoli’s signature mixed-media style on brushed aluminium with high gloss, this piece fuses pop art energy, sporting heritage, and modern industrial edge into a powerful celebration of football royalty.
